Book on Kindness

La tyrannie de l'hibiscus, by Alei Hassanein - book release in February 2024 (French)

This book explores fear and kindness, both in business and beyond. Fear is evident in environmental issues like climate change and biodiversity loss, as well as in economic, social, and political challenges such as ethnic divisions and poverty. Achieving the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals requires global action and commitment from governments, businesses, NGOs, and civil society, but success is uncertain.

Businesses also face challenges like a lack of meaning, cost-focused management, employee disengagement, absenteeism, and burnout. Efforts to transform corporate culture often encounter resistance to change and inadequate leadership.

Despite these hurdles, inspiring initiatives are emerging, especially in the business world, suggesting that what benefits the planet can also be good for business. By prioritizing humanity in these issues, we believe that improving human relationships can also benefit the planet and businesses.

So, how can we foster virtuous human relationships? Companies, being influential entities, are well-positioned to innovate and drive large-scale development. However, fear poses a significant barrier to emotional openness and vulnerability. It transcends boundaries and inhibits progress, but overcoming it can lead to positive change.
